About ››› Shing Detail

Take pride
in the ride.

Two people in South Orange County who care about cars more than is strictly reasonable, doing it properly for other people’s.

The name

Shing is
a sound.

It’s the note a sword makes clearing the sheath. Sharp. Deliberate. Done.

We picked it because that’s what a properly detailed car feels like when you open the door — nothing half-finished, nothing left behind.

Every step has
a reason.

Each stage exists because it does something the next one can’t. The blowout so the vacuum isn’t fighting loose grit. The pre-rinse so the wash mitt isn’t dragging that grit across your paint.

Thorough is the standard, not the upgrade.

We love our cars, and we want
our cars to love us back.

Consistent care is what keeps a car enjoyable to own and good to look at. Regular detailing protects finishes and keeps interiors from wearing badly — maintenance for the parts you touch and see every day.

Focus. Precision.
Discipline. Purpose.

Four ideas we borrow from martial arts practice and point at a car. They’re about attention, not aggression.

01

Focus

One car at a time. We don’t stack jobs and rush the second one.

02

Precision

Panel by panel, crevice by crevice. Order of operations matters.

03

Discipline

The checklist doesn’t get shorter because it’s hot out or we’re behind.

04

Purpose

Every job we accept is one we intend to finish properly, start to end.

How it started

It started with
our own cars.

Detailing began as a side hustle around school — a way to make some money in our own community while getting close to cars we admired.

Then we got cars of our own and the whole thing changed. Keeping something clean that you actually own is a different kind of satisfying. You notice more. You start caring about the parts nobody else will ever see.

Shing Detail came out of that: the idea that we could give someone else’s car the same attention we give ours.
